You Don't Have to be a Wimp to be Abused

“Jane,” a composite character, is no wimp. She is beautiful, strong-willed, intelligent and athletic. No one would ever suspect that she is a victim of Domestic Violence against Women. This book shows how anyone can become a victim of abuse. Jane's story is about a happy, active and capable young woman. Jane is brought up to be a people-pleaser and a co-dependent. Co-dependents are not all victims. They are often the volunteers of this world. But co-dependency can also make someone more vulnerable to all kinds of abuse. The author explains what is happening to Jane early in her life, and her intelligent and creative decisions. about how to survive and to be happy. “Jane” experiences childhood sexual abuse and rape, along with sexual ignorance. Her parents fail to notice her problems and only make things worse by being critical and sarcastic. Jane longs for love just by being herself. She comes to a false belief that she must perform in order to be accepted and loved. There are a lot of “Red Flags” (warnings) pointed out by the author as she relates Jane's life journey, They go by unnoticed by Jane as she innocently finds herself in an abusive marriage. She doesn’t even realize that she is being abused for many years. The way she is treated is her “normal.” Before Jane reaches the age of 30 she finds the help she needs. Being a strong woman emotionally and physically, Jane becomes able and willing to heal. By reading this book you will learn whether or not you or someone you love is in an abusive relationship and how you/they can get help and healing. Early childhood traumatic experiences can cause a person to become a victim or an abuser. Children in the same family can have different life experiences and/or make different choices.
