YOUTH

<p>Set on the east coast of Australia in a steadily gentrifying surf town YOUTH is shaped by the sea and the joy and tragedy it can bring. Using multiple perspectives the novel examines how people move on with their lives - or don't - when they are dealing with grief and how this burden affects teenage boys as they try to become the men they want to be.</p><p>When 16-year-old Ratty one of the most talented surfers in town drowns in front of his two best friends their lives are changed forever. At a time when growing to adulthood has reached its most turbulent stage Jimmy and Jenno must navigate the common experience of teenagers - parties alcohol drugs bullies and sexuality - against the backdrop of their deafening grief.</p>
