About The Book

Arthur Conan Doyle a British author published his first detective story A Study in Scarlet in 1887. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson who would go on to become the most well-known investigative team in fiction make their first appearance in the narrative. The title of the book is taken from a speech Holmes a consulting detective gave to his friend and chronicler Watson on the nature of his work in which he refers to the murder investigation in the narrative as his study in scarlet: There is a blood-red thread of murder woven through the colourless skein of life and it is our obligation to unwind isolate and expose every inch of that thread.
