Joseph Henry Green (1791-1863) was one of the great medical men of the nineteenth century. Professor of Surgery Lecturer in Anatomy and President of the Royal College of Surgeons Mr. Green devoted his intellect and skill to the benefit of his country and the improvement of his profession. Christian Philosopher and friend to Samuel Taylor Coleridge Mr. Green has presented in The Spiritual Philosophy the results of his own and that of his more famous friend's life-work. The present large 856 page volume contains in addition to the Spiritual Philosophy the author's Lectures and Orations-including the Vital and the Mental Dynamics the Lectures on Beauty and Expression-and the treatise written in three letters called The Touchstone of Medical Reform. Now edited and collected for apparently the first time the purchaser will find in the collected works of Green a library of interesting information and argument a summary of science and philosophy and a representation of Western Civilization and Culture that must be as valuable today as it is remarkable. Prefixed is the sound and touching Memoir of John Simon and also are included several excellent portraits and engravings both of the author and of the subjects connected with the work. Anyone who interests himself in science and philosophy and in the appreciation of the Christian Religion and Western Tradition will be sure to find Mr. Green's works of the utmost interest and not have occasion to blame the publisher for reminding him that we are Rich with the Spoils of Time.

J.
