The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Not only is Adventures of Huckleberry Finn one of the best adventure stories ever written but it also paints a stunningly accurate portrayal of nineteenth-century America. The story of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn centres on Tom Sawyer's best buddy Huckleberry Huck Finn the local drunk's kid who is placed under Widow Douglas' benign guardianship. Although Huck enjoys his time at the widow's home he finds the widow's attempts to civilise him to be frustrating. And when Huck's controlling father shows there to cause trouble he decides enough is enough. He flees and travels along the Mississippi River. He encounters Jim the runaway slave of Widow Douglas while travelling and develops an unexpected connection with him. Together they navigate the river as a weird cast of characters—thieves bandits and rival families—come into view. When Jim is taken hostage Huck is forced to enlist Tom's help in order to free his new friend.
