The History of Spiritualism Vol. I

The book is divided into two parts the first of which covers the history of spiritualism from ancient times up until the early 19th century. This includes an examination of spiritualist beliefs in ancient Greece and Rome the influence of the Renaissance on spiritualism and the emergence of modern spiritualism in the United States in the mid-19th century. The second part of the book is devoted to a detailed examination of the evidence for spiritualism including an analysis of various psychic phenomena such as telepathy clairvoyance and mediumship. Doyle argues that there is a great deal of evidence to support the existence of spiritualism and that the movement is based on genuine paranormal phenomena. The History of Spiritualism Volume I is an important work in the history of spiritualism and is still widely read and studied today.
