The only problem is that phrase <em>never actually appears</em> in any of the manuscripts written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Caveat; Holmes did often use the word elementary to describe his deductions and did address Watson as my dear Watson but he never combined the two into a single phrase.</p>
