DeVaux-Garman was motivated to write the book after researching this topic for her masters thesis and earning her masters degree in religious education. Since then she has done further research added content and has rewritten the text to create this current version. In her book she explores the reason for the differences in the Catholic and Protestant Bibles as well as the content of the selections in question. Many sources were consulted and summaries of the works are also included. Sharon M. DeVaux-Garman of Auburn Indiana is currently working on volume two of an earlier work and on a memoir of her uncle who was a composer.
