I too had a love story is the debut novel of well-known Indian English writer Ravinder Singh, published in 2008 by Shrishti publishers and republished in 2012 by Penguin India. This book has remained on the bestsellers list even after six years of publication. The novel is based on a real-life event that happened to Ravinder Singh, the author, and tells the story of two people, Ravin and Khushi, who are looking forward to getting married. Their parents have been pushing them towards getting engaged or married soon, leading them to sign up on a web matrimonial site, where they meet and fall in love. They decide to get married, and Ravin goes to Delhi to meet Khushi, and they are very happy. Both families are pleased with the relationship, and they are about to be engaged, but destiny has other plans. A day before their engagement, something bad happens, and their lives are not the same anymore.
The story explores how their lives turn out after the tragic incident, whether they stay together, and if they are safe. The novel unravels the concept of love in a simple manner, keeping readers engaged throughout the book. The author manages to maintain a full arc of narration, leaving readers wondering how it feels to lose love or find one. In the digital world, finding love has changed, and maybe keeping it is different as well, but the question remains - is love the same, or has the concept changed with the ever-evolving generations?
Former Infosys chief Narayan Murthy reviewed the book as *a sweet, simple, and honest tale of modern-day love*.
